Moses Leads his People in New Trailer for 'Exodus: Gods and Kings'

"...in terms of the metaphorical aspects, yes [this is the biggest project I’ve done]. Even budgetarily it’s probably the biggest, yeah. But I didn’t approach it as my biggest. I never do that. I always approach it from the point of view of the characters, of the story. I never realized Gladiator was going to be quite as large in terms of its scope and yet it was a very small, personal story. A revenge. A simple revenge into which we had jigsawed some characters.”

It's a good sign that Ridley Scott, in a recent conversation with Empire,  is willing to compare his upcoming Biblical epic Exodus: Gods and Kings to the five-time Oscar winning Gladiator. The film stars Christian Bale as Moses, who must rise up and lead lead his people out of Egypt and away from the vengeful rule of Pharoah Ramses, played by Joel Edgerton.  While the latest trailer does a great job of showing off the spectacular effects and gorgeous shots of ancient Egypt, at the heart of the story is the feud between Moses and Ramses, who were raised as brothers until the former is recognized as the great Hebrew savior of prophecy. Bring on the Ten Plagues, the burning bushes, and the eventual parting of the Red Sea; plenty of chances for Scott to put that massive budget to good use, especially when depicting God's wrath.

Also starring Aaron Paul, Sigourney Weaver, Ben Kingsley, and John Turturro, Exodus: Gods and Kings opens December 12th.
