Brad Pitt to Produce Sci-Fi Survival Thriller 'Alpha'
When World War Z devoured over $500M at the box office, it wasn't just a win for Brad Pitt the actor, but it showed his muscle as a producer. His Plan B productions has been a powerful force in Hollywood, backing 12 Years a Slave and the upcoming MLK drama, Selma. Now Pitt is teaming up with Robopocalypse author Daniel H. Wilson for an original sci-fi project, Alpha.
THR reports Pitt will produce Alpha, which Wilson will write based on an original idea he came up with. Details are few, but it's being described as a sci-fi survival story similar to the works of Jack London, author of White Fang and Call of the Wild. As for who will direct, Pitt has tapped newcomer Anthony Scott Burns, who impressed by creating a short commercial for a fictional company within the film.
Steven Spielberg put on hold his plans to adapt Wilson's futuristic novel, Robopocalypse, so this will give the author another pathway to the screen. As for Burns, you can check out his full bank of short films and commercials here on his Vimeo page. Maybe by the time production on Alpha gears up Pitt will have decided to take a starring role.
