Jason Statham's 'Mechanic: Resurrection' in 2016; Frank Grillo Leads 'Beyond Skyline'

We haven't had the fortune of watching Jason Statham and Frank Grillo duke it out on screen yet, but they'll both be starring in unexpected unnecessary sequels to low-budget action flicks.

First up, we've known that Jason Statham agreed to return for a sequel to The Mechanic, arguably the best solo flick he's had in years although it didn't do much at the box office. Well now the film has been given the ridiculous title of Mechanic: Resurrection (???), a release date on January 22nd 2016, not to mention Michelle Yeoh, Tommy Lee Jones and Jessica Alba added to the cast. German director Dennis Gansel (The Wave) will take over this one, which has Arthur Bishop (Statham) forced to assassinate the most dangerous men in the world by someone from his past.

And then there's Frank Grillo, who will be starring in Beyond Skyline, a sequel to the 2010 alien invasion flick you definitely forgot about. Liam O'Donnell, who wrote the first film, will write and direct this one about "a detective who fights to free his son from a terrifying alien warship."  Brilliant.
