Melissa McCarthy to Play Tinker Bell in Comedy Directed by Shawn Levy

Melissa McCarthy may not be the most obvious choice to play Peter Pan's glittering fairy pal, Tinker Bell, but that's where the comedy comes in, right? Fox has picked up a pitch by McCarthy and director Shawn Levy (Real Steel) for a comedy-adventure that will be written by Nicholas Stoller, fresh off the hit film, Neighbors.

What else do we know about it? Not much, except that it's meant to be a "fresh take" on the classic Peter Pan story. Levy is already in Fox's good graces with his Night at the Museum trilogy, and chances are he'll stick with the family-friendly tone. Audiences seem to love McCarthy no matter what she does (even the awful Tammy was a smash), and Stoller showed he can do more than raunchy comedies with his scripts for The Muppets and Muppets Most Wanted.
