So you don't want to see an espionage movie starring the lady who packs Spider-Man's lunch, Aunt May? What the heck is wrong with you? Anyway, a rumor surfaced yesterday that Sony, who have pretty much crapped all over their Amazing Spider-Man franchise, were actually considering a solo movie about a young Aunt May. The news didn't go over well, to say the least. Fortunately, CBR contacted Sony to get some official word on it and their response should pull anxious fans back from the ledge.
"When reached by CBR News, a source within Sony stated that the report of a Spider-Man spinoff starring a young Aunt May is a “silly rumor” with “no validity whatsoever.”"
Of course, this could be one of those studio denials that actually turn out to be true, but I highly doubt it. It was always a dubious rumor (thanks Latino Review for another stinker!) and hopefully this is the last we'll hear of Aunt May being in a movie that doesn't involve Spider-Man.
