Cliff Curtis takes Lead Role in 'The Walking Dead' Spinoff Series

You may not know the name Cliff Curtis, but I bet you know his face. He's been a key part of some tremendous films, including Whale Rider, Sunshine, Live Free or Die Hard (okay, that one sucked), and was recently seen on FOX's cancelled TV series, Gang Related. Now he's taking on his most high-profile gig yet as the male lead in AMC's The Walking Dead companion series.

Working under the title of Cobalt, the series takes place at a different location during the same zombie apocalypse, but follows another group of people. Curtis will play a divorced teacher, who is joined by a female guidance counselor and her two kids, played by the recently-cast Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey.  Adam Dividson will direct the series with Dave Erickson as showrunner.

For me this is the first really good reason to watch a show that probably doesn't need to exist.
