Rebel Wilson could be crossing the streams in Paul Feig's all-female Ghostbusters reboot. The film has been in the works for years as an official third entry in the comedy franchise, but Feig recently revealed he would be going in a completely different direction with a female cast. And now it looks like Wilson, who had one of her earliest breakout roles in Feig's hit, Bridesmaids, may be rejoining him.
While on The Today Show, Wilson revealed she has met with Feig about a role in the film, but didn't really elaborate on it much further...
Wilson: “Look, I’ve had a meeting, but who knows. They have to take a look at the script when it’s finished.”
And the screenplay has been the big problem since the very beginning when the original crew were meant to return. Now the script is being written by Kate Dippold (The Heat) and seems to be on the right track now. In fact, Wilson is so keen on being a Ghostbuster she'd be willing to do it without a huge pay day...
Wilson: “I’d even do it without the money truck because Ghostbusters, the giant marshmallow man if that’s going to be in it…yeah, I’d do that for free…. I probably shouldn’t say that on TV.”
For now, we'll have to settle for Wilson appearing in Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, which opens on December 19th. [ThePlaylist]
