'The Crow' Reboot gets a New Director

Unlike James O'Barr's comic book hero, a reboot of The Crow has found difficulty returning from the dead. A rebook/remake of the original Alex Proyas-directed film has been in the works forever, with a load of names attached on both sides of the camera. Most recently it was F. Javier Gutierrez on board to direct with Luke Evans set to play slain rocker, Eric Draven, but now a new director has taken charge while Evans' name is curiously absent.

Deadline reports music video director Corin Hardy will take over The Crow, having been recommended to producer Edward Pressman by none other than Edgar Wright. Hardy won Wright over with his animated short film, Butterfly, and will now make his feature debut on the fanboy favorite. Gutierrez dropped out in order to direct The Ring 3.

So what about Luke Evans? Is she still set to play the titular spirit of revenge? That seems to be unclear as he's not mentioned anywhere in Deadline's report. Evans' profile has increased dramatically since he agreed and it's possible he's moved on.  We'll see if things remain stable enough for filming to begin in the spring as planned.
