Calista Flockhart Joins CBS' 'Supergirl' as Cat Grant
I used to have a serious thing for Calista Flockhart back when she was on Ally McBeal. What guy who watched that show didn't? She spent five seasons on the ABC series Brothers & Sisters, so her success on the small screen is pretty much unquestioned. Now she's back again and joining CBS' upcoming Supergirl series from Arrow and The Flash creator, Greg Berlanti.
Flockhart will play Cat Grant in the Supergirl series, which features Melissa Benoist as the Kryptonian hero. Grant was first introduced way back in 1987 and was basically a fly in the ointment of Clark Kent and Lois Lane's relationship. She's been reimagined a little bit for the series and is now the head of her own media empire, CatCo, and the boss of Kara Danvers, Supergirl's civilian identity. She's described as a cross between Anna Wintour, Kim Kardashian, and Mark Zuckerberg, meaning she will probably make Kara's work life a nightmare.
Flockhart joins Benoist, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, and Mecaud Brooks as Jimmy Olsen. At this point the show is beginning to resemble Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, but hopefully it will be much better than that was.
