Drea de Matteo Joins 'Agents of SHIELD' in a Villain Role

Wherever Drea de Matteo goes, great shows tend to follow. She's probably best known for her Emmy-winning role as Adriana on HBO's The Sopranos, and for her performances on Sons of Anarchy and Desperate Housewives. Now she's bringing her talents over to Marvel's Agents of SHIELD when the series returns on March 3rd.

De Matteo has joined Agents of SHIELD as the relatively minor character, Karla Faye Gideon, described as “a gifted woman with a grudge to bear against S.H.I.E.L.D. who joins forces with Skye’s father, Cal.” Now, we all know Cal is the newly-revealed name for Kyle Maclachlan's character, who we now know is Calvin Zabo aka the villain Mr. Hyde. He's also the superhuman father of Skye (Chloe Bennett), who we now know as Daisy Johnson, the Inhuman known as Quake. In the comics, Karla appeared in the Daredevil: Redemption miniseries but it's unclear if the character will also be appearing in the upcoming Daredevil Netflilx series.

So add de Matteo to the growing list of new cast members and guest stars for Agents of SHIELD, a list that includes Edward James Olmos, Blair Underwood, and the returning Jaimie Alexander.
