First Trailer for Guillermo Del Toro's 'Crimson Peak' with Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, and More

It wasn't supposed to arrive until next week, but a version leaked early and it forced Universal's hand. So we're getting a trailer for Guillermo Del Toro's R-rated ghost story Crimson Peak sooner than expected, and it's to all of our benefit because it looks insane.

Starring Mia Wasikowska, Charlie Hunnam, Tom Hiddleston, and Jessica Chastain, the film takes place in a Victorian haunted house that seems to hold deep memories of its own. Heavy with Gothic romance and scares, this looks like a welcome replacement for Del Toro's At the Mountains of Madness, which he was originally supposed to make with the studio until they balked at the budget and R-rating. Who knows? Perhaps if Crimson Peak performs well enough we'll get to see 'Madness', too? Here's the official plot:

"In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds…and remembers."

Crimson Peak opens October 16th, and yep it will be in IMAX.
