In The Great Gatsby, Carey Mulligan played Daisy Buchanan, who was famously swept up in an affair with Gatsby while still very married. Now Mulligan is back as another well-known literary figure choosing between multiple men in Thomas Vinterberg's adaptation of Far from the Madding Crowd, and a new trailer has been released.
Mulligan plays the beautiful and headstrong Bathsheba Everdene, a 19th-century woman who is courted by three very different men. Matthias Schoenaerts plays the loyal sheep farmer, Gabriel Oak; Michael Sheen is the wealthy William Boldwood; and Tom Sturridge is the handsome soldier, Frank Troy. Who will she choose? You'll have to wait until May 1st to find out, and fortunately this doesn't look as if it will be just another stodgy period piece.
