The Guns are Out in New 'Hitman: Agent 47' Trailer

Hitman, based on the popular video game franchise, turned out to be a modest hit back in 2007, but obviously not quite enough to give it a proper sequel. Instead 20th Century Fox decided to scrap the whole thing and go with a straight reboot with a cast that doesn't really surpass the first one in terms of star power. So what's the point, exactly? Who knows, and the new trailer for Hitman: Agent 47 doesn't give any clear reason why this version should perform any better.

Starring Rupert Friend as the titular barcoded assassin, Zachary Quinto, Hannah Ware, Ciaran Hinds, and Thomas Kretschmann, the film features lots of cool slow-motion action that resemble video game cut scenes. This time the agent's target is a mysterious young woman running from powerful outside forces, but the truth about her past also teaches Agent 47 something about his own origins.

Directed by newcomer Aleksander Bach, Hitman: Agent 47 opens August 28th.
