Louis Leterrier goes 'Into the Deep'; Chris Columbus Bringing 'I Kill Giants' to Big Screen

Let's be honest, sharks aren't as scary as they used to be, and we probably have Sharknado to thank for that. Now it's time to get back to making them something to be feared again. It's time to go back to movies like Jaws and one of my personal favorites, Open Water. Deadline reports that Louis Leterrier, director of Clash of the Titans and Now You See Me, is in talks to direct shark movie In the Deep.

Based on a Black List script by Anthony Jawinski and described tonally as "127 Hours meets Jaws", a lofty bar right there, the story centers on a young woman, still grieving after the death of her mother, who is stranded on a reef after being attacked by a shark. She must find a way back to shore before succumbing to her injuries, but will have to get past the shark to do it. [Deadline]

Joe Kelly's terrific graphic novel I Kill Giants is headed to the big screen with Chris Columbus (Pixels, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone) on board to produce. Anders Walter, Oscar winner for his short film Helium, will make his feature directing debut working from a script Kelly will adapt himself. The story centers on a troubled young girl battling monsters both real and imagined. [Deadline]
