Ryan Reynolds Lounges by the Fire in First Official 'Deadpool' Image

So, some may ask why in the world the first official look at the Deadpool costume comes in this weird, strangely seductive image by the fireplace? Well, that's Deadpool for ya, he often doesn't make a whole lot of sense. If he did, then he wouldn't be the "merc with a mouth" that comics fans have come to love since he debuted way back in 1991.

Ryan Reynolds dropped the image on his Twitter, and along with it comes the upcoming film's synopsis which actually tells us a lot:

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland) are going all the way back to the beginning to tell Deadpool's story, which explains why the supporting cast are all playing figures from his past. TJ Miller is on board as Weasel, Deapool's tech guy; Morena Baccarin is his shapeshifting ex-girlfriend Copycat; plus roles for Ed Skrein and Gina Carano. Directed by TJ Miller, Deadpool arrives on February 12th 2016.
