'Breaking Bad' Creator Vince Gilligan Plans 'Beanstalk' for Disney

This will come as no surprise but Disney is working on another live-action fairy tale, only this time it's based on one of their lesser-known animated movies. Deadline reports Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan is set to produce and possibly direct Beanstalk, a revisionist take on Jack and the Beanstalk.

Gilligan came up with a detailed outline for the story and sold the pitch to Disney, who just put the fairy tale in theaters as part of the musical Into the Woods. Emmy-winning Breaking Bad writer Thomas Schnauz will write the screenplay. Bryan Singer also had a version of the story recently in Jack the Giant Slayer, which cost a ton and barely broke even. There was an animated version of the Jack and the Beanstalk story released by Disney in 1947, but it was part of the "package film" Fun and Fancy Free and starred Mickey Mouse.

Something tells me the guy behind Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul isn't planning on having Mickey as his star. Then again that would be pretty cool if he did.
