First Trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's Horror 'The Visit'

Where has M. Night Shyamalan been lately? Because so much of the After Earth backlash was laid on Will and Jaden Smith many have forgotten he directed that terrible film. He's also been busy on the small-screen as exec-producer on the upcoming Fox series, Wayward Pines. There has been a deafening silence surrounding Shyamalan's next film, The Visit (previously titled Sundowning), in hopes of maintaining a sense of mystery. Now the curtain is being raised in a new trailer that definitely brings the creep factor.

Starring Kathryn Hahn, Ed Oxenbould, Olivia De Jonge, Peter McRobbie, and Deanna Dunagan, the thriller centers on two kids staying with their grandparents while mom is away on vacation. The kids are given seemingly simple rules to follow, but when they break them it becomes clear that Nana and Papa are into some deeply sinister stuff.  "Would you mind getting inside the oven to clean it"? Uh, no thanks, grandma!

Shyamalan hasn't flexed the horror muscles in a long time and it's good to see him back doing what I still think he's very good at. Plus he's working with Blumhouse who know how to market exactly this kind of film.

The Visit opens on September 11th.
