Al Pacino Embraces Life in the Latest 'Manglehorn' Trailer

While it's great to see David Gordon Green return to making low-key melodramas like his recent films Joe and Prince Avalanche, they don't always make for the most inspired promos. His upcoming drama, Manglehorn, stars Al Pacino as a lonely man whose dark past comes back to haunt him, but there's very little that's gripping about the latest trailer. Here's the synopsis:

Academy Award winner Al Pacino gives a wondrous performance as a lonely locksmith whose life is transformed by a new romance in this magical love story from acclaimed director David Gordon Green (Joe, All the Real Girls). A.J. Manglehorn (Pacino) is a reclusive Texas key-maker who spends his days caring for his cat, finding comfort in his work and lamenting a long lost love. Enter kind-hearted bank teller Dawn (Holly Hunter) whose interest in the eccentric Manglehorn may just be able to draw him out of his shell.

The film has received decent reviews since premiering on the festival circuit last year, with notable praise for Pacino. My hope is this turns out more like Joe, which was quite unassuming at first but was one of my top films last year. Also starring Holly Hunter, Harmony Korine, and Chris Messina, Manglehorn opens June 19th.
