'Dope' Drops a New Red Band Trailer and Clip
Is there ever such a thing as too much press when it comes to a smaller indie film like Dope? The film's director Rick Famuyiwa probably doesn't think so, and Open Road Films definitely don't agree which is why they've dropped numerous trailers for the film already. That trend unfortunately continues today with a rather unnecessary red band trailer, plus the first official clip.
Introduced by rapper/actor A$AP Rocky, the footage offers another look at the fast-paced comedy which stars Shameik Moore, Tony Revolori, and Kiersey Clemons as a trio of hip-hop obsessed geeks who get wrapped up in a drug deal gone bad. The film was the talk of the Sundance Film Festival and did pretty well recently at Cannes, and some expect it to be a hit come this summer. While I wasn't as high on it as others, there's little doubt in my mind it's the perfect movie for escaping the heat with a few friends.
Also starring Zoe Kravitz and Keith Stanfield, Dope hits theaters on June 19th.
