Melonie Diaz Joins 'The Belko Experiment'; Gabrielle Union Boards 'Sleepless Night' and 'Keanu'

My favorite actress, the irresistible Melonie Diaz (Fruitvale Station) has joined The Belko Experiment, the upcoming horror film written by Guardians of the Galaxy's James Gunn. Directed by Greg McLean (Wolf Creek) and starring John Gallagher Jr. and Tony Goldwyn, the film takes place at an American company in South America which is mysteriously sealed off and its employees trapped inside. Their true natures are revealed when the order comes down that they must kill or risk being killed themselves. Diaz, who was last seen in The Cobbler unfortunately, will play a new employee at Belko Corp. Filming begins in June and quickly this has jumped to the top of my list of must-see films.

Gabrielle Union has just snagged two major roles; one in the remake of Sleepless Night, joining Jamie Foxx and Michelle Monaghan. The other in Keanu, the new comedy from  Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele.

Sleepless Night is a remake of the hit French crime thriller  about a corrupt cop who must steal a bag of cocaine from a mob boss to save his son's life, all the while avoiding capture by the criminals and Internal Affairs. Union will play Foxx's ex-wife. The film is directed by Baran bo Odar (The Silence).

And then there's Keanu, which is the title of comedy duo Key & Peele's film which has them as two wannabe gangster drug dealers trying to rescue a stolen kitten. Peter Atencio is directing, with Union on board to play Key's wife, a woman who wishes her polite husband was more assertive. Keanu shoots first this summer, then Union moves on to film Sleepless Night. [THR]
