Sony Conjures Up a Remake of 'The Craft'
Fairuza Balk, Rachel True, Neve Campbell, and Robin Tunney. Individually, these names may not mean as much as they used to but back in 1996 they meant you were likely watching The Craft. The teen drama centered on four high school wiccans who use their powers to climb the social ladder and get revenge on enemies. It's pretty much a cult favorite and, speaking for myself, if The Craft is on TV I'm probably watching it. Most likely our own Roxana Hadadi is watching it, too. Unfortunately, Sony has decide it's too good of a property to keep down so we're getting a remake.
THR reports that Leigh Janiak has been hired to write and direct a remake of The Craft, and it's a move that should inspire some hope. Janiak hit it big last year with the indie horror, Honeymoon, starring Game of Thrones' Rose Leslie. She's a director with a lot of potential and may be able to make this better than the average remake.
I'd rather see a sequel revisiting the same characters as older witches, but oh well. Here's my favorite stretch from the film which features, in my opinion, one of the hottest walks of any high school film. It also has Ben Stiller's bitchy wife getting her hair ripped out. Also, here's Rocky's
