Zoe Kazan Joins 'There Are Monsters'; Jim Broadbent has 'The Sense of an Ending'; Anna Camp Takes 'The Serpent's Bite'
Bryan Bertino (The Strangers) has set Zoe Kazan (What If) to headline his next horror flick, There Are Monsters. Written by Bertino, the film centers on a mother whose love is the only thing that can protect her daughter from the merciless creature terrorizing them. Filming begins this summer. Basically if Kazan is in it I'm going to be excited for it, so count me in. [TheWrap]
Ritesh Batra, director of the terrific romance The Lunchbox, will follow it up with another romantic drama, The Sense of an Ending. Starring Jim Broadbent and based Julian Barnes' award-winning book, the story "centers on Tony Webster, who, when presented with a mysterious legacy, finds himself contending with a past he had never thought much about. As he delves back into his personal history, he is forced to reassess his relationships with those closest to him and revise his understanding of his own nature." [THR]
Pitch Perfect's Anna Camp will be singing a different tune with her next role, co-producing and starring in an adaptation of Warren Adler's book, The Serpent's Bite. The family drama centers on a father attempting to reunite with his older children during a nostalgic horse trek through the wilds of Yellowstone. The story explores how an obsession for celebrity and blind ambition can distort familial love and turn a beloved child into a grotesque monster. Camp will play the adult daughter, Claire Temple. This is still pretty early on as a writer and director still need to be announced.
