'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' Looks to Add Ezra Miller

Warner Bros. is showing a great deal of faith in Ezra Miller to bolster some of their biggest franchises. Not only has the We Need to Talk about Kevin and The Perks of Being a Wallflower star been cast as the Flash in the superhero's big screen film, but now he's being considered for the Harry Potter spinoff, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Miller would be joining Eddie Redmayne and Katherine Waterston in the adaptation of JK Rowling's Harry Potter textbook, written by the fictional magizoologist, Newt Scamander. Redmayne takes the lead role as Scamander, who heads to New York City 70 years before the birth of the boy wizard to find and catalog magical creatures. Negotiations with Miller are still underway but if he signs on he'll take on the role of Kredan, a man with magical powers encountered by Scamander.

There are still a few major roles to be filled. Director David Yates wants singer/actress Alison Sudol (Dig) for the role of Queenie, younger sister to Scamander's wife. The studio may ultimately decide to go with a bigger name, though. Josh Gad and Michael Cera are apparently in the mix to play Jacob, Scamander's rival, and will meet with the studio next week.

Directed by David Yates and written by Rowling as a potential trilogy, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens November 18th 2016. [Variety]
