International Trailer for Michel Gondry's Coming-of-Age Film 'Microbe and Gasoline'
Say that a film is by Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind director Michel Gondry and it comes with a certain artistic expectation. While the visual flourishes he's known for have reaped less than stellar results of late, there's still nobody else out there who makes movies quite like Gondry does, and that makes the arrival of his latest film, Microbe and Gasoline, all the more exciting.
The first trailer for the coming-of-age comedy has been released and unfortunately it's totally in French. Not that English is needed to understand what's going on here. The story follows Microbe and Diesel, two misfit school-aged kids who decide don't want to spend the summer with their families, so they build a makeshift van out of cardboard (Gondry's material of choice) and hit the road for a wild adventure. Keep an eye out for Gondry's Mood Indigo star, Audrey Tatou, as well. Hopefully this recaptures some of the magic that seems to have been missing from Gondry's movies lately.
No word on a U.S. date and given the release patterns for Gondry's most recent films who knows when or if we'll get this. France will get it in theaters on July 8th.
