Jack Bauer is back! Sortof. You may recall earlier this year, at the same time Fox was announcing a return of The X-Files, that they were also considering a new 24 series that would be without Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer character. While they haven't gone so far as to write Bauer off completely, their follow-up to 24: Live Another Day will focus on someone new.
A story at the generally reliable TVLine says Fox is considering another limited event series, one that will have a "twentysomething male terrorist hunter" in the lead role. So what Bauer? He'll have to help save the world in the few guest appearances he'll get. This new character will be joined by a seasoned female agent, but don't count on it being Yvonne Strahovski's Agent Morgan from the previous series, although she may make occasional appearances.
The plan is to keep this in the traditional, real-time style we're all familiar with, and if this limited run works out there is potential for longer seasons in the future. Does anybody want a 24 without Jack Bauer as the top guy, though?
