Scoot McNairy has a 'Sleepless Night'; Susan Sarandon to Star in 'Frindle'

Scoot McNairy (Frank), T.I. (Takers), Dermot Mulroney (August: Osage County), and David Harbour (End of Watch) have joined Jamie Foxx, Gabrielle Union, and Michelle Monaghan in action-thriller Sleepless Night. Directed by Baran bo Odar, the film will have Foxx as a seemingly corrupt cop who must rescue his son from the gangsters (McNairy and Mulroney) who kidnapped him as payback over a stolen cocaine shipment. Filming begins later this month. [THR]

An adaptation of the Andrew Clements' children's novel Frindle is on the way, and Susan Sarandon is set to star. The story, which will be adapted by Sam Harper, centers on fifth-grader Nick Allen, who is forced by his English teacher Mrs. Granger (Sarandon) to write an essay on where words come from and how objects are named. He decides to rename his pen a "frindle", and much to Granger's dismay the word becomes a worldwide phenomenon.
