'Supergirl' Melissa Benoist is Becky Thatcher in Trailer for 'Band of Robbers'

Classic literary characters get updated all of the time and put into modern context. Sometimes it works, like in the excellent comic Fables or (arguably) with Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes movies, and sometimes you get a disaster like I, Frankenstein. Band of Robbers is a new film that turns Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer into a couple of dangerous criminals plotting their next big score.

A teaser for the film has been released before its premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival, and it's a pretty stylish effort, especially from a musical standpoint. Kyle Gallner (Dear White People) stars as Huck, who has recently been released from prison and hopes to start a clean life. But corrupt cop Tom, played by co-writer/director Adam Nee, has other ideas, so they start a gang to go in search of rumored treasure. CBS' Supergirl, Melissa Benoist, has a co-starring role as grown-up Becky Thatcher, while Matthew Gray Gubler (Criminal Minds) and comedian Hannibal Burress also have roles.

While this looks like it could be a fun, offbeat crime flick, what's the significance of having them be Tom and Huck? Seems like that should be more front and center since it really is this film's best hook.
