Armie Hammer Joins 'Nocturnal Animals', Chris Messina in Talks for 'Live By Night'
Tom Ford's Nocturnal Animals is shaping up to be even more impressive than his debut, A Single Man. The Man from UNCLE's Armie Hammer is the latest to join Jake Gyllenhaal, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kim Basinger and Aaron Taylor Johnson in the adaptation of Austin Wright's novel, Tony and Susan. Hammer will play the husband to Adams' character, a woman who suddenly receives a manuscript of her ex-husband's first book. As she reads, she is drawn into the story of Tony (Gyllenhaal), an ordinary man whose life goes violently off course. [Deadline]
Chris Messina is in talks for Ben Affleck's next directorial effort, an adaptation of Dennis Lehane's Live By Night. The Prohibition-era drama stars Affleck as a police captain's son who rises in the ranks of Boston's criminal underworld. Messina would play Affleck's best friend and right-hand man. Sienna Miller, Zoe Saldana, and Elle Fanning co-star with more to be cast soon as filming begins this November for a 2017 release. [Variety]
