Avril Lavigne is 'Charming'; Laurence Fishburne boards 'Passengers'; Corey Hawkins heads to 'Kong: Skull Island'


Avril Lavigne, Ashley Tisdale, and Chinese pop star Tang Tsz-Kei will voice Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty in Charming, the animated musical comedy that already stars Demi Lovato. Lovato, who is pulling double-duty as manager of the film's musical score, voices lead character Lenore. The search is on for an actor to voice Prince Charming, who is revealed to be engaged to all of the princesses. That cad! [Deadline]

Laurence Fishburne  is in talks to join Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt in Passengers, the sci-fi film that was recently dated for a December 21st 2016 release. Directed by Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) from a Jon Spaihts (Prometheus) screenplay, the deep space romance centers on a passenger in a spaceship traveling to another planet who wakes up decades too early from cryogenic sleep. Faced with the prospect of dying alone, he wakes up another passenger to spend the rest of his life with. Fishburne's role has yet to be revealed. He'll be seen next reprising his role of Perry White in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. [THR]

Corey Hawkins is blowin' up, ya'll. The Straight Outta Compton star, who will be playing Dr. Dre in the rap biopic, has already landed another role in The Walking Dead's upcoming season, and now he's taking on his first blockbuster studio film. Hawkins has joined the cast of Kong: Skull Island, Jordan Vogt-Roberts' (The Kings of Summer) movie set on the mysterious island home of the legendary ape. He'll co-star alongside leads Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson, with the film set set for release on March 10th 2017.
