Colin Farrell conjures up a Role in 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'

Talent has never been Colin Farrell's problem; the movies he's chosen star in has been the issue. Perhaps he became too big of a star too fast, but after becoming persona non-grata around Hollywood for awhile, Farrell is most definitely back in its good graces. Regardless of your opinion on True Detective his work on the HBO series has been strong, and he's also had solid performances in Saving Mr. BanksMiss Julie, and The Lobster which debuted to good reviews at Cannes. Now he's taking on his first real tentpole feature since the terrible Total Recall remake by joining the cast of Harry Potter prequel, Fantastic Beasts and where to Find Them.

Farrell boards a cast led by Eddie Redmayne as magizoologist Newt Scamander, who documents magical creatures in New York City decades before the birth of Harry Potter. Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Ezra Miller, and Alison Sudol co-star, with Farrell taking on the role of Graves, a wizard Scamander encounters on his journey.  Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling wrote the screenplay herself, with 'Potter' vet David Yates directing what is expected to be the first leg of a trilogy.

Fantastic Beasts and where to Find Them opens November 18th 2016. [THR]
