Frank Grillo to endure another Night of Violence in 'The Purge 3'

Branching out from the realm of low-budget horrors, Blumehouse's The Purge was a home invasion thriller with a unique concept. A national holiday in which people can give in to all of their violent urges without fear of repercussions. The film was pretty good and did well at the box office, but the sequel, The Purge: Anarchy, did even better. That one was a full-blown '80s style action movie led by real-life tough guy Frank Grillo, it looks like he's coming back for more.

Grillo will endure another night of violence in The Purge 3, which will again be written and directed by James DeMonaco. Plot details haven't been revealed yet, but given that the last film expanded the idea to encompass an entire city, perhaps this one will show how the annual "Purge" is seen on an even greater scale? The last film teased the idea of other countries participating, and that some rebel groups are fighting back to end the purges once and for all.

The Purge 3 opens July 1st 2016. Grillo will be seen later this year in another sequel, Beyond Skyline, and will reprise his role as Crossbones in Captain America: Civil War. [Variety]
