A good way to get people to stop asking about the fate of Jon Snow on Game of Thrones is to give them a new mystery to solve. Enter Ian McShane, with the Deadwood actor making his return to the network with a small but apparently pivotal role in Game of Thrones. We just don't know who that character will be.
The report from EW says McShane "has a relatively small amount of screen-time during the season, yet his character is of key importance.” Could he be someone seen in flashback? Perhaps the Mad King Aerys Targaryen? Or perhaps he'll play Sam's father, Randyll Tarly? Perhaps our resident Game of Thrones expert +Roxana Hadadi can throw her two cents into the speculation game because she may have better insight on it than me.
Season six of Game of Thrones is in production now and returns to HBO next spring.
