New 'Star Wars Saga' Steelbook Blu-Ray Set coming in November

In an effort to cash in celebrate the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Lucasfilm, Disney, and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment will re-release the six previous films in limited edition commemorative steelbook Blu-Rays on November 10th. There isn't much in the way of new material, and they are still the edited versions preferred by George Lucas (boooo!!!!), but at this point you're getting these because of the awesome packaging, not for the content which you probably already own in multiple formats.

As for that highly-collectible packaging, the set features Darth Maul appropriately on the cover of The Phantom Menace; Yoda is on Attack of the Clones; General Grievous adorns the cover of Revenge of the Sith; Darth Vader is on A New Hope; a Stormtrooper is on the cover of The Empire Strikes Back; and Emperor Palpatine rounds things out on Return of the Jedi. So if you're a fan of the Dark Side then this set is definitely for you. As for why more familiar characters like Han, Luke, and Leia weren't used, perhaps they wanted to avoid characters we'll see in the new trilogy.

The set contains more than 40 hours of previously released extra material, and each single disc Blu-ray includes existing audio commentary with George Lucas and the film crew, as well as audio commentary from archival interviews with the cast and crew.

The set will be available for pre-order on August 7th, and we encourage you to buy yours from our store here.
