Maisie Williams to Lead YA Zombie Film 'The Forest of Hands and Teeth'

While we all love Maisie Williams as Arya Stark on Game of Thrones, and personally I can't wait to see what happens to her character now that she's been blinded, the actress is steadily adding more big screen projects to her schedule. She recently agreed to star alongside Asa Butterfield in Arrivals, and hopefully soon we'll hear about that adaptation of video game The Last of Us she was in talks for a year ago. Now Williams is taking the lead of her own YA adaptation with franchise potential, starring in The Forest of Hands and Teeth.

Based on the first book in Carrie Ryan's best-selling trilogy, the film stars Williams as Mary, one of the few human survivors of a virus that leaves the infected as wandering undead cannibals. The fate of humanity falls on Mary's shoulders when she must lead a rag tag group through the dark depths of the Forest of Hands and Teeth.

The film will be directed by Kate Maberly from her own screenplay, and Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrrow) is on board as a producer. Shooting will begin some time next year. [Variety]
