Michael Fassbender Rules in the New 'Macbeth' Trailer
Before Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard travel back in time for Assassin's Creed, they'll venture into the past in a completely different way in Macbeth. Obviously based on Shakespeare's oft-adapted play, this version is directed by Justin Kurzel (also directing Assassin's Creed) and following rapturous reviews out of Cannes a stunning new trailer for it has arrived.
While the story remains familiar to anyone who knows the Bard's work, what's immediately clear is this will be unlike any Macbeth ever seen. There's a feral energy in every scene that's only bolstered by the combination of Fassbender in the title role of the Scottish noble, and Cotillard as his murderously ambitious wife. The rest of the cast is also impressive with Paddy Considine, David Thewlis, Jack Reynor, Sean Harris and Elizabeth Debecki, making this one of the strongest ensembles of the season. Here's the official synopsis:
From the Academy Award® winning producers of The King’s Speech and acclaimed director Justin Kurzel, comes a visceral and visually breath-taking retelling of the classic tale about an ambitious Scottish lord who seizes the throne with the help of his wife. Starring Academy Award® nominee Michael Fassbender and Academy Award® winner Marion Cotillard, MACBETH is an epic cinematic experience.
Macbeth opens on December 4th.
