New 'Men in Black' Trilogy On the Way Minus Will Smith
Men in Black 3 did surprisingly well for Sony back in 2012, earning more than $600M after the franchise had been dormant for a while. Ever since Sony has been trying to come up with new ways to keep things going, but one guy who wasn't really interested in coming back was Will Smith, and it appears the show will go on without him.
In a conversation with THR, producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald stated that a new Men in Black trilogy is on the way...
We’re in the middle of it. It’s very active,” said Parkes.
“It will be reinvented as a trilogy,” MacDonald added.
So what does that mean exactly? A total reboot? Or some kind of remake of the trilogy we already saw? And what about Tommy Lee Jones, Smith's partner in busting alien crime? Or maybe they'll pass the torch to Josh Brolin who played a younger version of Jones in the last film? And what does this mean, if anything, for the proposed Men in Black/23 Jump Street crossover? Is that just completely dead now? Or maybe they just hope we'll stare into the light and forget about it?
