Now We Know the Title of Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' Sequel

Ready to have the waters muddied in regards to Ridley Scott's Prometheus sequel? While he's talked about expanding the franchise's scope in exploring the origins of the life-creating "engineers", he also revealed there would be a closer connection to his original Alien movies, but not until later sequels. He may have been pulling our legs a little bit because Scott has revealed the title of Prometheus 2, and it suggests that connection begins much sooner.

In a conversation with HeyUGuys, Scott says the title of the film is Alien: Paradise Lost...

“Actually, it’s going to be called Alien: Paradise Lost, so Prometheus 2 isn’t what it’s really going to be. You know the poem? I doubt you’ve ever been through it, have you? The poem’s a book, Paradise Lost! It sounds intellectual, but there’s a similarity to it, and that’s where it stops.”

Okay, it makes sense the sequel would have a different title because Prometheus was technically the ship they were flying around in, and it's no longer around. But if there is no specific tie-in to Alien why give it this title? Is this a way to draw a straighter line to Neill Blomkamp's eventual film?

Only time will tell. Alien: Paradise Lost is expected to open in 2017.
