Zack Snyder Says 'Batman v Superman' is Basically a 'Man of Steel' Sequel

So when are we going to get that Man of Steel sequel, eh? The first film did well enough to launch Warner Bros.' universe of DC Comics heroes, but lately doubt has been cast there will be another. It's interesting how things have changed. Only a few months ago Henry Cavill said Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was not a sequel to Man of Steel, and now today Zack Snyder is suggesting just the opposite and that Superman won't have another solo movie. He tells Canoe...

“I think in a way ‘Batman v Superman’ is ‘Man of Steel 2,'” said Snyder. “‘Justice League’ is kind of the transcendent, knights-of-the-round-table of the story. It’d be interesting to think about what a standalone Superman movie might be.”

Uh, yeah it would be interesting to think about, Snyder, so why aren't you?  Lately we've heard rumors there wouldn't be any further Superman movies, and Snyder confirmed Affleck's role was beefed up at the expense of Cavill's.   It all adds up to Superman being part of ensembles for the time being, which obviously includes the two-part Justice League films Snyder is directing.

Of course, things could change after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25th 2016, and they likely will.
