Bella Thorne Joins 'The Babysitter', Jenny Slate Boards 'Aaardvark' and 'Zootopia'; Mia Goth Lives 'High Life'
McG is rounding up an interesting cast for the Brian Duffield-scripted horror comedy, The Babysitter. Bella Thorne (The DUFF) is joining the previously cast Robbie Amell, Samara Weaving, Judah Lewis, and Andrew Bachelor in the film about a 12-year-old boy and the long, awful night he has with his babysitter. Jenny Slate (Obvious Child) has lined up two animal-titled projects. First up, she's signed on for Aaardvark, joining Zachary Quinto in the film written and directed by Brian Shoaf. The plot's details are being kept under wraps and so there isn't any info on her character. Why all the secrecy? Filming begins in December. [Variety]
Slate has also been named as part of the voice cast for Walt Disney's animated Zootopia. Idris Elba, JK Simmons, Alan Tudyk, Octavia Spencer, Tommie Chong, Nate Torrence, Bonnie Hunt, Don Lake, and Raymond Persi join the previously announced Jason Bateman, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Shakira in the film about a city populated by animals. The story follows optimistic cop Judy Hopps who teams with sly, scam-artist fox Nick Wilde to crack a mystery. [USA Today]
Nymphomaniac's Mia Goth has joined Robert Pattinson in High Life, the English-language debut by Claire Denis. Taking her first crack at the sci-fi genre, Denis' film centers on a group of criminals taking part in a human reproduction experiment in space, only to have their ship bombarded by a storm of cosmic rays.
