'Kingsman 2' Shoot Bumps 'Robin Hood: Origins' A Few Months

Just days ago it wasn't looking good that Taron Egerton would be able to shoot both a sequel to Fox's Kingsman: The Secret Service and Lionsgate's Robin Hood: Origins. Both films were gearing up to begin production early next year, and one of the big questions was whether Matthew Vaughn would have the Kingsman 2 screenplay ready in time for that to happen. Well apparently he feels confident that all will be ready to go, as THR reports he has exercised an option on Egerton's contract, guaranteeing the young actor will be on when filming begins in April.

So where does that leave Egerton's Robin Hood film? Lionsgate has decided not to drop him as the titular hero, but instead will push the start date a few months until after Kingsman 2 is finished, likely at the end of summer. It's a smart move for the studio as Egerton is poised to be a big breakout star with two franchises under his belt.

Although Vaughn has added multiple projects to his slate in the recent weeks it's expected he'll return to direct Kingsman 2, as well. Having a start date should firm up his participation, and we may start hearing buzz about casting soon, including the potential return of Colin Firth.
