Sandra Bullock, George Clooney, and Gary Ross Plan All-Female 'Ocean's Eleven'

This weekend sees the release of the political film Our Brand is Crisis (review here) which stars Sandra Bullock and is produced by George Clooney, who was originally set for the lead role. The two starred together in Gravity last year, and clearly the working relationship they've forged has been a beneficial one, which is why it's going to continue in one of the more surprising upcoming projects; an all-female Ocean's Eleven.

ThePlaylist broke the news, stating that the film has been in the works for quite some time with Clooney, Steven Soderbergh, and Jerry Weintraub producing. When Weintraub passed away the project was in limbo for a while, but now it's back and ready to go. On board to direct is Gary Ross (The Hunger Games), with Olivia Milch (Queen & Country) writing the script. As for what it could be, like a spinoff or some kind of remake, is unclear but there's a chance of Clooney's Danny Ocean character turning up.

Swapping gender roles has become a popular trend lately, not just in the movies but in all forms of media. From the female-led Ghostbusters to a lady Thor, women are taking more prominent roles than ever before. No word on when this Ocean's Eleven project will get going, but it's expected to be next for Ross after he finishes Free State of Jones starring Matthew McConaughey.
