Negan Role in 'The Walking Dead' Goes to Jeffrey Dean Morgan
It's about to get real on The Walking Dead. And look, I know everyone's still upset over the Glen thing, whether it's true or not, but there are about to be a lot of very popular characters that are probably about to bite the dust...or take a barbed-wire bat to the head.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played The Comedian in Watchmen a few years ago, has been cast as the villain Negan. This is one of those characters fans of Robert Kirkman's comic have been anticipating and dreading at the same time. Negan is the F-Bomb-dropping leader of a group known as the Saviors, who force other communities to share their resources under threat of violence, while also promising to protect them from zombies. He carried around a barbed wire baseball bat named "Lucille" that he uses on his victims, and in the comics that includes Glen, who he beats to death. Now before you get upset over that being spoiled, it should be obvious by now that the show does not follow the comics.
Morgan beat out others such as Garrett Dillahunt and Timothy Olyphant of HBO's Deadwood, and Matt Dillion. He'll debut during the season six finale and become a regular castmember during the seventh season. It will be very interesting to see how Negan is used in the TV series as opposed to the comic, where he and the Saviors kill or seriously jack up a number of major characters.
