Shane Carruth's 'The Modern Ocean' Adds Anne Hathaway, Keanu Reeves, Daniel Radcliffe, and More

Shane Carruth, director of wildly popular mind-bending indies like Primer and Upstream Color, is going Hollywood. A couple of months ago it was revealed that his next film, The Modern Ocean, would be a major studio project with the budget to match, and now it looks like he's lining up a truly incredible cast to be a part of it.

Anne Hathaway, Daniel Radcliffe, Keanu Reeves, ChloĆ« Grace Moretz, Tom Holland, Asa Butterfield,Jeff Goldblum, and young Abraham Attah of Beasts of No Nation have joined the film, which on paper doesn't sound immediately intriguing...but that cast!!! The story centers on the competition for valuable shipping routes, the search for the hidden cache of priceless material and the powerful need for vengeance will converge in a spectacular battle on the rolling decks of behemoth cargo ships. Described as an epic tale of danger and intrigue, it will take audiences from the ancient trading houses of Algeria to the darkest depths of the ocean floor.

This should be an interesting fusion of Carruth's art house tendencies with mainstream star power. Expect buyers to line up to get a piece of this one. And it's also good to see Attah, who was amazing in 'Beasts' opposite Idris Elba, getting another film under his belt. [Deadline]
