The first actual footage from the Kickboxer remake, Kickboxer: Vengeance, only last about 23 seconds but it offers up one thing fans of the original will be happy to see: Jean-Claude Van Damme's famous roundhouse kick. Van Damme takes on a new role in the martial arts flick which stars Spectre and Guardians of the Galaxy's Dave Bautista as the villainous Muay Thai champion, Tong Po; plus Alain Moussi (White House Down), Gina Carano (Haywire, Deadpool), and Georges St- Pierre (Captain America: The Winter Soldier).
Moussi takes on the role of Kurt Sloane, part of a famous martial arts family in California. When his older brother Eric is brutally killed by Tong Po in a match, Kurt seeks revenge by training with his brother's mentor for a death match against Po. I'm more excited for this than it will probably end up deserving.
Directed by John Stockwell, Kickboxer: Vengeance opens in 2016 but doesn't have a firm date.
