Trailer for Tim Blake Nelson's 'Anesthesia' With Kristen Stewart, Glenn Close, And More

Remember when Kristen Stewart was a really huge star? Well, so does she, and she wants no parts of it. That's why she's spent the last couple of years attaching herself to one indie project after another, and with strong turns in Camp X-Ray and Clouds of Sils Maria she's doing better than ever. Okay, let's just forget that whole American Ultra thing.  Anyway, she's back with another under-the-radar project in the ensemble drama, Anesthesia, which has debuted its first trailer.

Directed by and starring character actor Tim Blake Nelson, the film follows a philosophy professor and the many people affected by him. The cast also includes Sam Waterston, Glenn Close, Corey Stoll, K. Todd Freeman, Gretchen Mol, Mickey Sumner, Jessica Hecht, Gloria Reuben and Michael K. Williams. Here's the synopsis:

"Set in New York City, Tim Blake Nelson's thought-provoking drama is a meditation of city life that examines the inextricable and unforeseen forces that bring a group of disparate individuals together in a world where many people are alone and life remains unexamined.

Walter Zarrow is a well-loved Columbia University professor of philosophy.  His son has just revealed daunting news that has made him realize its time to retire and concentrate on enjoying his golden years with his loving wife. What he doesn’t know is how much his “being” may touch those around him:  a troubled student; a philandering husband, and a man fighting drug addiction."

Anesthesia hits theaters and VOD on January 8th.
