Adam McKay Says He's Coming Back For 'Ant-Man And The Wasp'

2015 was a time of incredible change in the career of Anchorman and Step Brothers director, Adam McKay. Not only did he direct financial world film The Big Short, which is looking like a frontrunner to win Best Picture next week, but he also had a hand in rewriting Marvel's Ant-Man. That completed his quest to work on a comic book movie, after he had unsuccessfully shepherded an adaptation of The Boys. Ant-Man proved to be enough of a success that a sequel has been confirmed titled Ant-Man and the Wasp, and McKay says he'll be part of that, too.

Talking with Nerdist, McKay confirmed he'd return for the sequel, although he doesn't know when or how much input he'll have...

“We’ve been talking to Marvel actually. We just talked to them the other day, and it looks like I will be involved. I don’t know if it’s gonna be right from page one. But it looks like I will definitely be involved. There you go. There’s a little headline for the fanboys!”

Peyton Reed is coming back to direct from a script by Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari, part of Paramount's Transformers writer's room. So it sounds like McKay will do much the same as before, which is punch up the existing screenplay to make it funnier.

Ant-Man and the Wasp opens July 6th 2018.
