'Alien: Covenant' Adds Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, And More

The crew of Ridley Scott's Prometheus sequel, Alien: Covenant, continues to expand with the addition of four new castmembers, all young and definitely on the rise.  According to Deadline, Empire's Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz (Upstream Color), Carmen Ejogo (Selma), and Callie Hernandez (Machete Kills) have joined the growing sci-fi ensemble.

Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, and Hernandez's Machete Kills co-star Demian Bichir are already on board the film, which serves as the next chapter of Scott's franchise that serves as a prequel to 1979 classic, Alien.  The story reunites us with the devious android, David (Fassbender), who is found on a remote planet by the crew of colony ship Covenant. What looks like an isolated paradise turns out to to be a dangerous planet with David as its sole inhabitant.

Smollett, who plays the talented Jamal Lyon on Fox's Empire, is getting a crack at his biggest feature role yet, although it's unlikely his song and dance skills will be useful in this case. Seimetz is an indie darling who is also the co-creator and co-star of Showtime's The Girlfriend Experience series. Ejogo is the most experienced of the bunch with major roles in Sparkle, Selma, and The Purge: Anarchy. Hernandez will be seen in La La Land opposite Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.
