Fans of David Milch's Deadwood were thrilled when HBO confirmed that a movie was finally in the works. But that's not all Milch has got going on right now. He's got another movie about real-life outlaws, Shadow Country, with Jeff Bridges set to star. The film is based on Peter Matthiessen's award-winning novel, which is basically a compilation of his three prior books on Edgar "Bloody" Watson, a 19th-century Florida outlaw and sugar planter who terrorized his neighbors for years before meeting a violent end at their hands. Milch is writing the screenplay but at this point it's not clear if he will direct, or when this project could get moving. [THR]
Holliday Grainger (The Finest Hours) is joining Rachel Weisz and Sam Claflin in My Cousin Rachel, Roger Michell's adaptation of the classic 1951 novel by Daphne Du Maurier. Claflin plays Philip, an orphan who comes to conclude that his mysterious, beautiful cousin Rachel was responsible for the murder of his beloved guardian, Ambrose. As he seeks to expose her crimes, Philip's feelings are complicated as he falls under spell, too. Grainger will be seen next in the star-studded period drama, Tulip Fever. [Deadline]
Ben Hardy, who will be seen in X-Men: Apocalypse as Angel, has joined Elle Fanning, Douglas Booth, and Bel Powley in A Storm in the Stars. It's the next project from Wadjda director Haifaa Al-Mansour, and tells a dramatized version of the love affair between Percy Shelley and 18-year-old Mary Wollstonecraft, which led to the latter writing "Frankenstein" as Mary Shelley.
