Daisy Ridley Could Play Lara Croft In 'Tomb Raider' Reboot
Before Star Wars: The Force Awakens nobody had ever heard of Daisy Ridley, but now she's a star the world over. She took the role of Rey, incredibly important to the most popular franchise in movie history, and made completely made it her own. Clearly, this is just the start of many great things for her, and the next move she makes could be leading the long-developing Tomb Raider reboot.
Ridley's name is in the mix to play Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, based on the best-selling video game. She'd be taking over from Angelina Jolie, who defined herself as the top female action star in two Tomb Raider movies in 2001 and 2003. This new version will be based on the most recent game, an origins story with Norwegian director Roar Uthaugh (The Wave) at the helm.
It's unclear what Ridley's level of interest is, or who the other contenders are. She'll be so busy with Star Wars that finding time for another huge franchise may not be what she wants, and there may not even be time for it. But if Ridley does land the role she'll be playing two of the most culturally significant female characters in recent history, which isn't too shabby. [Deadline]
