On one side you have Dwayne Johnson, one of the biggest action stars working today. On the other is Kevin Hart, comedy's top funnyman the last couple of years. Chances are it didn't take a lot of arm twisting to make Central Intelligence a reality, but at least the comedy pairing seems to be paying off because the trailers are pretty funny.
Directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (We're the Millers), the film stars Johnson as Bob, who in high school was overweight and bullied, but grew up into a beefed up, muscular CIA agent. Hart plays Calvin, who used to be the cool guy in school but now is an accountant with a boring life. When Bob is framed for a crime he enlists Calvin's help in clearing his name.
As expected, the biggest gags are about the obvious physical contrasts between Johnson and the fun-sized Hart. Is that enough to make an entire movie out of? We'll find out when Central Intelligence opens June 17th.
